IRVINE, Calif., April 25, 2019 – Futures Academy, a non-traditional secondary school that customizes education to fit each student’s unique talents, challenges and interests, celebrated its name change from Halstrom Academy with a ribbon cutting event on Thursday, April 18 at its Woodland Hills campus.

Many families attended to learn more about the school’s new innovative curriculum and programs that enhance the one-teacher to one-student model it founded more than 30 years ago, and to hear renowned author and inspirational speaker Devin C. Hughes speak on “Reaching for Greatness: How to Empower Your Kids.” Aligning with one of Futures Academy’s four pillars that focuses on Happiness, Devin spoke about the powerful effects happiness can have on people’s day-to-day lives, and how parents can help their teens develop more happiness and gratitude at home and at school.

“This event allowed us the opportunity to introduce our new name and curriculum to many families, and to help them better understand how we deliver customized education and foster student success,” said Monica Englert, Campus Director. “At the event, it was rewarding to hear from our families how Futures Academy has changed our students lives both at school and at home.”

“Our new name and new look better represent who we are and how our teachers, students, families and community are shaping the future together,” said Kelly Bozarth, Futures Academy Chief Executive Officer. “Our tagline ‘School Reimagined’ speaks to how we are redefining what education looks like and feels like for students. We look different, we teach differently, and we deliver next generation education in a ‘one size fits none’ model. We believe education should be personal and tailored to each student’s needs and strengths, and that every student should be known, seen and belong.”
