English: Young Writers Camp

Develop an original piece of writing to be published. In this one-week camp, practice research, writing & presenting skills (narrative, argument or exploratory) as you craft an original piece of writing.

  • Submit your project for publication in the Student Blog section on the Futures Academy website.
  • Appropriate for all grade levels and ideal for students who are looking to practice and enhance their writing skills.
Arcade Game Design

Math Inventors Camp: Arcade Design

Use your math and creative skills to design your perfect arcade game. This one-week camp for middle-school students integrates elements of planning, engineering and mathematical thought as students develop and design their own arcade game.

  • Reinforce middle-school math skills with a hands-on project and feel better prepared for the school year ahead.
  • Submit your design and earn the Futures Academy Award in Mathematical Thinking.
  • Appropriate for students in grades 6-8 and is ideal for students who want to practice their math skills with a creative project.
   
Waterpark Design

Math Inventors Camp: Waterpark Design

What would your dream waterpark look like? In this one-week camp, students will use algebraic skills and practice their proficiency with linear equations as they design their own waterpark.

  • Students will practice identifying points, calculating slope, writing equations, solving for midpoint, using the distance formula, and explaining their final park design.
  • Submit your design and earn the Futures Academy Engineering Award in Mathematical Thinking.
  • Appropriate for all grade levels and is ideal for students who have taken at least one Algebra course (Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1 or Algebra 2).
   
Bridge Design

Math Inventors Camp: Bridge Design

Be a structural engineering architect. In this one-week camp, students will analyze geometric designs of four common bridge types before they design their own.

  • Students will practice geometric skills as they are tasked with labeling angles and using parallel lines, transversals and triangles.
  • Submit your design and earn the Futures Academy Engineering Award in Mathematical Thinking.
  • Appropriate for all grade levels and ideal for students who have had some exposure to Geometry.
